Google Recognises Heritage Day
Today is Heritage Day in sunny South Africa. It’s the day…
when South Africans celebrate the diverse cultural heritage that makes up a “rainbow nation”. It is the day to celebrate the contribution of all South Africans to the building of South Africa.
Anyway, Google had recognised it too with a pretty cool looking logo (the colours [...]
- 25 Oct → You know it’s the mid-term school holidays again when not only do you get to work in about half the time you normally do, but the gym is also full of youngsters working their Friday muscles, on Monday. ( 2 )
National Braai Day
I really should have played my South African card and taken the day off so I could also celebrate National Braai Day. The day started off wet and miserable, but now the sun’s come out and it looks like we’re in for a lovely day. I’m on lates, so could still call in South [...]
- 09 Jul → Wow, this holiday stuff is really good for me. I feel rested, refreshed, revitalised and motivated again. Best of all, I managed to lose 5 kgs (11 lbs) whilst on holiday - I suspect most of it is probably water, but anyway… Wooohooo!!! It’s the first time I’ve been under 90 kgs in ages. ( 0 )
Happy Freedom Day
Today is probably one of the most important days in South Africa’s history. It’s the day the first post-apartheid democratic elections were held in 1994. It’s also the day South Africa’s new constitution came into effect in 1997. This is a day every South African across the world should be celebrating and [...]

We spent out third week staying just outside Hazyview in the Hazyview Cabanas. Once again it was courtesy of mum’s timeshare - thanks [...]
SA Holiday Part 3:Hartebeespoort Dam
I’ve finally pulled finger and worked my way through my large collection of photos taken from our second week on holiday in South Africa.
We spent the week with mum and Sami, utilising mum’s time share (again), staying at a resort called Mount Amanzi. This is situated in the beautiful and quite valley downstream from [...]
SA Holiday 2006 Part 2: The Garden Route
Our original plans were to arrive in Jo’burg on the 20th, and immediately fly down to George, pick up a hire car and head to Hermanus for the night and next day. I’ve never been to Hermanus and thought it would be cool for Claire and I to go see the whales - it [...]
SA Holiday 2006 Part 1: Don’t Fly Air France
Our holiday didn’t start off or end off too well thanks to Air France.
Following the recent liquid terror plot that was foiled just before our holiday, we got to the airport with plenty of time to spare. Actually, we got there with so much time to spare that we got told we had to [...]
A Roman Weekend
Better late than never…
Late last year, Claire found out that one of her groups was scheduled to have one of their workshops in Rome. Accordingly, we thought this would be a great opportunity to go see Rome without having to worry about the cost of one of the flights. So that’s what we did, [...]
