1% Milk - Is It Really Worth The Effort?
Life is already far too complicated with all the choices we can have when we go shopping: Branded or not? Organic or “normal”? Free range or battery? Fresh or frozen? High fat, medium far or low fat?
Well, Sainsburys have complicated matters further in the milk department. We’ll ignore the whole branded/unbranded and organic/normal choices [...]
Security Tagged Chickens
You know things must be getting bad when chickens are being security tagged in our local Tescos…
Apparently they’ve taken to security tagging the joints of lamb and beef too.
Last night’s F-Word featured probably the most disgusting cheese in the world: the casu marzu.
This is a sheep’s milk cheese from Sardinia, Italy that is effectively a Pecorino Sardo, but taken a stage further in the fermentation/maturation process.
After a couple of weeks of maturation, the top of the cheese is cut open and [...]
Special Chicken Tikka Bhuna
We’re off for a team curry at the Ancient Raj in Frimley this evening and I thought I’d peruse the menu before we go (we’re hoping may speed things up if we can pre-order before arriving).
In my perusals I encountered the usual assortment of well known Indian dishes, and then I encountered this intriguing dish:
It’s [...]
Coke/Pepsi: Can You Really Taste The Difference?
We’ve all heard about the Coke/Pepsi/Sprite test where tasters couldn’t taste the difference between Coke, Pepsi and Sprite due to the temperature they drinks were served, but do you think you could tell the difference between Coke and Pepsi and their varients if the drinks were served at room temperature?
We were discussing this and the [...]
Could KFC become KGC?
Apparently, KFC in the US is currently trialling grilled chicken in some of it’s stores in an attempt to give people a “lighter” and “healthier” option. If it turns out to be a success, they’re looking to roll it out across the US.
Who knows, if it’s that successful, maybe they’ll change their name to [...]
High Tea At The Ritz
Claire and I had “finely cut sandwiches, freshly baked scones, jam and clotted cream and a range of delicate pastries” for dinner last night. That’s because we went and had high tea at The Ritz in London. What a splendid evening it was too.
A couple of weeks ago, Jonathan Ross, on his show Friday Night With Jonathan Ross, mentioned Marks And Spencer’s Pain Au Chocolat Bread & Putter Pudding and how bad it was for you. Well, Claire and I happened to be in M&S yesterday, spotted one of these and thought we’d give it a try.
I [...]
Posh Vending Coming to Work
It’s been crazy at work over the past few weeks, but things are bound to get better now. We’re getting an upgrade to our vending machines. To quote the email I received yesterday…
How to Eat a KitKat
Next time you get the chance, take note of how you or someone else eats a KitKat. Notice something? People always eat KitKats (except for the chunkies) by breaking off the fingers and eating them one at a time. Why?
On the topic of KitKats, according to the KitKat branding website…
Big kicking former England rugby [...]
